Since establishing a presence in Legal, Canadian Real Estate Service has been a major player in one of the briskest real estate markets ever experienced in this area.
Formerly based in Edmonton, the company is the successor to a real estate firm founded in the mid-1960s by the father of current broker/owner Marcel Blais. Along with his brother Paul, Marcel purchased the firm in January 1989. As sole operator since 1995, Marcel ran the business from Edmonton prior to establishing a full-service real estate office in Legal in 1998.
Canadian Real Estate Service facilitates the sale and purchase of residential, country residential/acreage, commercial and recreational properties. The firm is a member of provincial and national real estate associations and is linked by computer to the Edmonton Real Estate Board. The latter, says Marcel, keeps the firm updated on real estate trends and educational opportunities to better serve the community. Services are provided in both English and French and potential sellers can take advantage of free comparative market analyses of their properties. In addition to his role as resident realtor, Marcel is a commissioner for oaths. Our Office Administrator is Doreen Brisson.
Canadian Real Estate Service is a company that abides by the rules and regulations, code of ethics and standards of business practice as set out by the Edmonton Real Estate Board, the Real Estate Council of Alberta and the Canadian Real Estate Association. We will continually strive to provide the best service possible to our clients by staying abreast of the economic conditions and trends of our trading area. We commit to improving ourselves by enrolling in continuing education courses and mandatory courses provided by the real estate board and other education providers.
As past president of the Legal & District Chamber of Commerce, Marcel is well aware of reasons behind the vigorous real estate market in Legal. Price is an important consideration, he says, adding that the price of a house in Legal is often 30% or more below that of a similar house in Edmonton. "This town also has a great deal to offer in terms of cleanliness, quiet, safe country atmosphere, good schools (English & Francophone K-9), and city-style services including City of Edmonton water."
Real estate activity grew in the late 1990s with the increased military presence in the area and continues with the arrival of first-time buyers, city commuters, and members of the younger generation moving back to their home community.
